Budget picks, $80–230
PLZ double-DIN touchscreen
Typically $80–140
A value touchscreen with the essentials: 7" capacitive screen, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, backup camera input, USB, AM/FM. Good for first upgrades, work vehicles, or a quick refresh of an older dash.
Keep in mind: entry-level sound tuning and build quality. Not for deep EQ, hi-res audio, or Maestro data screens. Step up if you're adding amps.
PLZ 10.1" floating screen (single-DIN chassis)
Typically $120–220
A huge screen on a single-DIN body, so it fits tight dashes and still gives you a tablet-size display. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, camera input.
Keep in mind: the floating screen can block vents or knobs in some cars; I'll position it clean. Entry-level audio versus name brands.
Boss BVCP9700A-FL
Typically $160–230
Budget double-DIN with wireless and wired CarPlay and Android Auto, about a 6.75" capacitive screen, Bluetooth, camera input, and three pre-outs if you add an amp or sub later.
Keep in mind: entry-level tuning and build versus mid-tier brands. If you need higher pre-out voltage or Maestro data screens, step up.
Dual XDCPA10BT (Walmart)
Typically $130–180
Budget CarPlay and Android Auto double-DIN that Walmart often has in stock for same-day pickup. Easy to grab if your store has it.
Dual DMCPA10W 10.1" (Walmart)
Typically $180–250
Big floating screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, also usually in stock at Walmart. Same note as the PLZ floating screen: I'll position it so it doesn't block your vents.
Mid-tier sweet spots, $300–500
Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX
Typically $300–450
Trusted name with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6.8" capacitive screen, good Bluetooth, proper EQ, and pre-outs for amps. The one I recommend most when someone wants it to just work for years.
Alpine iLX-W650
Typically $300–400 (MSRP $499)
Ultra-shallow chassis, easy fit in crowded dashes. Wired CarPlay and Android Auto, 7" screen, Alpine sound tuning, and it stacks with Alpine's add-on amp if you want more power without another box.
Sony XAV-AX4000
Typically $350–450
Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, a bright 6.95" screen, name-brand reliability, and a clean, simple interface. Works with Maestro for factory-feature retention on supported cars.
