How it's done
Hardwired, not plugged in
OBD plug-in trackers are easy to find and unplug. I hardwire the tracker to constant power, hidden behind panels.
Starter interrupt relay
The kill switch cuts the starter circuit, not the fuel or the ignition. The car locks and unlocks like normal; it just won't crank.
Photo documentation
You get photos of the tracker location and the wiring, and for fleet work, the VIN and the IMEI on every vehicle.
Questions people ask
Which tracker should I buy?
One with a hardwire kit and a subscription you're OK with. Send me the one you're looking at and I'll tell you if it's a good one.
Can it be found?
Anything can be found by someone who tears the car apart. The point is that it's not visible, not plugged into the OBD port, and not where the first person who looks will check.
Does the kill switch hurt the car?
No. It's a relay on the starter signal wire. When it's off, the car behaves like a dead starter. Everything else works.
